How an angsty teenager eating a sandwich in 1914 killed 110 million people and ultimately led to the creation of tentacle porn:

1.) In 1914, Serbian nationalist and teenager, Gavrilo Princip, joined a plot to assassinate Archduke Ferdinand of Austria. After the first assassination attempt by his fellow conspirators failed, the parade car took a wrong turn and stalled right in front of a delicatessen where Gavrilo, according to popular tradition, just happened to be eating a sandwich. The Archduke's car stalled, so Gavrilo stepped forward and shot the Archduke and his wife, killing them both.

2.) Nobody in Austria gave a shit about a dead duke, but the royal family was pissed and declared war on the Serbs. Other countries took sides, WW1 ensued, and 40 million people died.

1. After the war ended, the Allies imposed humiliating punishments on Germany with the Treaty of Versailles.

2. German resentment to the punishment inflicted on them after WW1 was taken advantage of by Adolf Hitler and so began WW2.

3. The nationalist government of Japan thought Nazis seemed pretty dope, so they allied with Germany and began expanding their own empire.

3.) Japan wanted America out of their backyard, so they bombed Pearl Harbor. America wasn't happy so they nuked Hiroshima, and Japan surrendered. 70 million people died in total during the war.

1. While occupying Japan after the war, American soldiers brought comic books and Disney cartoons to Japan.

2. This cross-cultural enrichment, coupled with the American occupation government passing anti-censorship laws, caused an explosion of creativity in Japanese comic art. However, although the Victorian/Meiji-era censorship laws had been relaxed, the explicit portrayal of sex organs was still banned.

3. Finally, in the 1980's, manga artists rebelled against the censorship laws by turning to a 19th century tradition of utilizing octopus tentacles as symbolic substitutes for penises. And thus, the manga subgenre of tentacle porn was born.
