This smartphone application based on Android and Apple [sic] is all the rage among game-lovers, especially youngsters. According to Irvan however, the word Pokemon itself means "I'm Jewish" in a certain language.
"Clearly that is an admission to the people who oppressed our brothers (literal: relatives) like the Palestines. It is also against the teachings," he said to *Cianjur Ekspres* yesterday (18/7).
He said the Cianjur local government has appealed (advised) smartphone users to not play Pokemon Go, which was officially launched in the US not long ago and will launch in Indonesia in the near future. "It's currently an advisory, but it could later be banned if it's not educational and dangerous," he continued.
According to Irvan, there are stories about accidents caused by playing Pokemon Go. This is because it necessitates the user to get out and walk to look for pokemons, and this will affect their focus on the roads.
This can be fatal if the user is driving. The lack of concentration will make them more prone to accidents. From light injuries to death, said Irvan, these could happen due to their shift of focus.
"Indeed there are no research done yet on whether it is dangerous or not. But what is clear, is that it's best to anticipate these bad things before they actually happen. Basically don't be too focused on the game. When on the road, be aware of your surroundings. Don't let the game affect your studies. All should be balanced," he asserted.
