Surprise! We've been running on hardware provided by BuyVM for a few months and wanted to show them a little appreciation.
Running a paste site comes with unique challenges, ones that aren't always obvious and hard to control. As such, BuyVM offered us a home where we could worry less about the hosting side of things and focus on maintaining a clean and useful service! Go check them out and show them some love!

Update 1:
Currently have 474 Maps/Objects loading. I think I will update this soon as it's not really what I was looking for. But here are some photos I took while free-running in Runescape:

Keep in mind the following things:
- There is no shadows enabled currently.
- Pretty much all the textures are wrong.
- This is a low quality revision.
- The rendering distance is set to very low, hence the harsh cut-offs on screen.
- Haven't dealt to the z-fighting issues
- The floors are currently not double-sided, which is why the roofs appear to be invisible from underneath.
- I'm currently just in the debugging stage, haven't put any work into the amazing visual effects Unity offers :)


Update 2:
Worked on some rendering + visual effects, starting to look quite beautiful :) (Current revision : 474)

I think tomorrow I will work on the server side of the game, so that you can guys can play!
(Still some weird roof texture issues, and some objects are really dark, e.g trees)

P.S - If anyone could help me with 667/718 Map and Object loading in a 317 deob, that would be great! (I've tried so many times)


Update 3:
Finally got 508 Loading! (The problem was java uses byte arrays to store various model variables, and C# needed to use sbyte arrays)
I also fixed:
[*]Trees.
[*]Dark shadows on some objects.
[*]Roof textures.
[*]Black triangles around the landscape.
[*]Implemented new flo, (loads flo2.dat now).


There are still a few bugs I need to fix, but this is pretty good progress for today.

Update 4:

Didn't update the thread yesterday because I didn't really do anything aha, But today I cleaned up the code a bit (Getting rid of Jagex's fluff) And I also got a Day and Night cycle implemented. Tomorrow I might work on the GUI and server (Maybe even get weapons and armour loading)

I didn't realise the amount of mapdata missing in 508 :/, Getting the Port Sarim mapdata was quite hard, especially since Harry's Dumper isn't available anymore.
So if anyone has some 508 mapdata or a Dumper that would be appreciated!

Haven't implemented Mige's 530 maps yet, Will do that soon.
If anyone has a 508-530 NPC spawn dump I would appreciate it!


Update 6:
Did some work on the UI, I think the chat box looks pretty nice (I wanted it to be not too big and non-obtrusive), I might change this in the future though (It's fully programmatic so I can easily reposition it etc):

All in all pretty good progress in 13 days I think.

PS: Login box looks small because I had the game full screen on a very large display, Also screen recorder makes it more laggy/lower quality than it actually is.

Update 7:


Nothing too noteworthy, Fixed the npc's, Fixed the z-buffering lighting issue and did a bit of work on the atmosphere. Check the day and night cycle below (Sped up):

Update 9:

I feel like my client is at a very stable stage now, I can walk around the world and tele everywhere without missing chunks and array out of bounds errors.

I also have the server working now, Player profiles are created upon login and their positions are saved.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully get player models rendering, and create a 3rd person camera :)

PS : At the moment anything with an alpha is illuminated at night (It isn't ideal but looks really nice in most situations)



Update 10:

Did some work on the 3rd person side of things, The camera is very similar to WoW, you can zoom in and out, the camera can't go through walls and you can rotate the camera 360 degrees.

Yes santa is my player at the moment :P (Until I can work out this identity kit stuff, Send me a pm if you are good with client sided player rendering)
I also fixed floating objects, But the gaps in trees and roofs are due to incorrect height offsets (which no one has been able to fix) So i'm not sure what i'll do about that.
